Hometown driver Jerry Teel led the first half of the 20-lap IMCA Modified main event before ‘Rapid’ Ronnie took control and made the pass. The first caution waved on lap 18 when George Tyler spun. It took three more tries before the race finally got back to green as several mishaps occurred. Hill led the short remaining distance to go to the winner’s circle. Heat two winner Teel settled for second, with Jason Schoenberger, Matt Fabrizius and Marty Clark rounding out the top five. Jeff Welsh, Mike Petersilie, and Hill also won heat races, and Corey Lagroon topped a 16-car field to win the B-feature.
Cunningham took the lead at the drop of the green in the 20-lap IMCA Stock Car feature and never looked back. The lone caution waved on lap 4 for a spinning car, and Cunningham pulled away on his way to the checkers. Jason Davis won the battle for second, followed by Cory Struckhoff, Travis Sherfick and Dustin McClurg. Cunningham also won the heat race.
Kurtis Pihl took the early lead in the IMCA Hobby Stock feature until the caution waved on lap 3. On the restart, Marquette’s B.J. Dauer took over the top spot and pulled away to keep his winning streak intact at the 3/8-mile oval. Jerry Hudson moved up to finish second, followed by heat two winner Pihl, Mark Normandin and Luke Pfannenstiel. Heat one winner G.W. ‘Cheeseburger’ Fuller of Tescott also claimed the checkers in the Oldham’s Sale/PPG Paints cash dash.
In the IMCA Sport Compact feature, Art Herzog led the opening lap, then heat race victor Jamie Rice of Minneapolis took a lead he would not relinquish in the caution free 12-lap race. Jesse Dunlap gave chase but settled for the runner-up spot, with Allen Rice, Michael Smith and Nick Wolff completing the top five.
The IMCA Northern Sport Mods returned and Josh Rice of Minneapolis led all 15 laps in the caution filled feature race. Joe Couse, Duane Wahrman, Troy Robinson and Bret Conness rounded out the top five. Rice and Bret Conness were victorious in their heat races.
The evening’s race sponsor for ‘All American Night’ was Adronics/Elrob Mfg. of Hays.
