Several new faces compete at the speedway

     Several new drivers invaded RPM Speedway, Friday evening, May 14, for Merchant Night, but Clayton Wilson was the only driver to make a repeat visit to victory lane.

     Troy Gemmill of Oklahoma made the long haul to the 3/8-mile oval pay off as he was able to claim the win in the IMCA Modified A-feature.  Gemmill was able to chase Jerry Teel and Jason Schoenberger down and make the pas for the win.  Teel finished second, followed by Schoenberger, Dave Hardesty and Corey Lagroon.  Kurt Johnston won the B-feature but broke and was unable to run the main event.  Heat race winners included Gemmill, Schoenberger, Shannon Maughlin, and Hardesty.

     Dustin Daniels of colby defeated a strong field of cars in the IMCA Stock car division to win the main event.  Josh "The Hammer" Hudson, who won last time out, had to settle for the runner-up spot, trailed by Jason Rogers, Adam Balthazor and Terry Cunningham.  Jay Hachmeister and Hudson were victorious in the two heat races, with Hudson also claiming the win in the cash dash.

     Wakeeney's Clayton Wilson claimed his second win of the season in the IMCA Northern Sport Mod feature.  Josh Rice, Tanner Portenier, Troy Robinson and Trenton Kleweno rounded out the top five.  Heat race winners were Kaid Calhoon and Shane Meeks.

     Hometown driver Daniel Irwin made his first appearance in victory lane with a win in the IMCA Hobby Stock feature.  Heat one winner Cody Ghumm settled for second, followed by Jerry Hudson, heat two victor G.W. Fuller and Casey Gilmore.  Josh Latka had a top five finish but was disqualified in post-race tech.  cody Williams also had a hard crash into the wall and his car caught on fire, bringing out a red flag.  Cody was not hurt but done for the evening.

     The Figure 8 cars returned, and Brandon Ogorzolka made the long haul from Henderson, NE, pay off with a victory.

     Racing action returns to the 3/8-mile oval Friday night, May 21.  All five IMCA divisions will be in competition.  it is also 'Faster Pastor' night with several area ministers taking to the track in sport compact cars.  Race time is 7:30pm.
